We've all got issues at stake in this presdential election, but chances are good they won't get addressed to our satisfaction any time soon. Until we find a way to remove the corrupting influence of money in our political system these issues will only be resolved in a manner that benefits the tiniest slice of the 1% who underwrite our public elections and undermine our Democracy.
In this new video from our friends at notthisbody, in collaboration with Rootstriker's founder Lawrence Lessig, the connection is clear:
The video strikes a chord for me as one of the featured issues is Net Neutrality, something I worked on for half a dozen years before I tired of fighting Big Media's money. We still don't have real Net Neutrality protection in this country, the watered down regulations we did win at the FCC are riddled with loopholes. Loopholes that were bought and paid for by the likes of AT&T, Verizon, and Comcast.
Sadly, this story plays out time and time again.
