We call ourselves Rootstrikers because we believe that our system of government has been crippled by the corrupting influence of money in politics. We're fed up with politics as usual and to be frank, many of us are probably tired of voting for what we perceive as the lesser of two evils, or to be casting votes against the other guy and not for someone we really believe in.
Until the day when our issue is resolved we won't have a government that is truly representative of the people. But we won't reach that goal if we check out of the system as it is and ignore our most basic responsibility as a citizen.
However discouraged you might be, it is absolutely critical that you show up to vote on election day. Abstaining from voting as some form of silent protest against the system only silences you.
Are you registered to vote in this election cycle? If not, let's get it taken care of real quickly:
The good folks behind National Voter Registration Day have made it super easy to register to vote no matter where you live, so get it taken care of right now and make sure your family, friends and neighbors have registered as well.
Politicians listen to voters, they don't listen to people who sit on the sidelines. Take this important first step in being heard, register to vote and show up on election day.
