Aaron's Fight is Our Fight

Our government is broken. We've said this over and over again, we've protested, and we've drafted countless petitions. But now, we mourn.

A friend and hero to this movement is gone because our criminal justice system has lost track of what's right and what's truly wrong. Aaron Swartz spent his life fighting for public access to knowledge and a functional, transparent government. Now, we can honor his death by continuing his work, and making sure a tragedy like this never happens again.

Our friends at Demand Progress, an organization Aaron founded, are gathering support for a bill introduced by Representative Zoe Lofgren named "Aaron's Law." It would fix a key part of the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (CFAA), which is one of the statutes under which Aaron was indicted.

**Add your name to Demand Progress's petition for justice for Aaron.**

Thank you to everyone who signed up to volunteer and asked what they could do to help our cause after they received news of Aaron's passing. Please consider lending your energy to this effort. It's one step in the right direction.

The White House directed federal agencies on Friday to make the results of federally-funded research freely available to the public within one year of publication…."
