I agree that money in politics is essentially the root of all that is evil in the US and probably the world. Unfortunately I see an alarming trend developing where a conservative, activist SCOTUS rules in favor of big money which finances increasingly conservative candidates which results in an increasingly conservative SCOTUS, and on and on. I fear there is no way to break this cycle other than some cataclysm that removes all the conservative justices in one fell swoop while a progressive President and a progressive Senate are in power…in other words, when Hell freezes over. I’m afraid our window of opportunity closed when Dick Cheney appointed Sam Alito and John Roberts to the court. Based on SSA life expectancy tables we’re probably stuck with the current SCOTUS makeup for at least the next 10 years.
